02 June 2020 - 0 Comments

Notable Pictures, in association with UMusic and StudioCanal, are proud to announce the launch of the official trailer for ‘Six60: Till the Lights Go Out’. This year’s must-see big-screen event, coming to cinemas in spring 2020.

TRAILER AVAILABLE ON FACEBOOK HERE

Directed by Julia Parnell (The Chills: The Triumph and Tragedy of Martin Phillipps, Anthems) and made in association with the New Zealand Film Commission, NZ On Air and Notable Pictures, the documentary charts the incredible untold story of Six60, a Dunedin student band that went on to become a national phenomenon, becoming the first and only Kiwi band to sell out New Zealand’s biggest stadium.

“Any preconceived ideas I had of Six60 were completely changed in the process of making this movie. Their stubbornness to achieve, whilst confounding critics and disproving experts, has virtually redefined what success looks like in New Zealand. But it’s been the brutal honesty they have shared that I hope will connect most with audiences - Julia Parnell, Director.

With the initial release date delayed due to Covid-19, today’s release of the trailer begins the countdown to the film premiere in cinemas. A story of never giving up, of brotherhood, music and the love of a nation, at this challenging time, Till the Lights Go Out’ will do what Six60 do best: unite people.

In 2019, Six60 defied all convention when they attempted to be the first-ever New Zealand band to headline a concert at Western Springs Stadium. Alongside jaw-dropping coverage of their record-breaking concert is never seen before archival footage of Matiu Walters, Ji Fraser, Eli Paewai, Marlon Gerbes and Chris Mac on the extraordinary road they’ve taken to achieve a power of an appeal unseen in Aotearoa.

“It all started at 660 Castle Street. Along the road there have been ups and downs, highs and lows, and tears - both good and bad. It’s time we share the real untold story of how five dudes from Dunners became Six60.” - Matiu Walters

The trailer premiered on Saturday 30th May during ‘Six60: Live at Western Springs 2020’ a special on TVNZ1, being made available in response to Covid-19.

Featuring all their greatest hits, ‘Six60: Till the Lights Go Out’ is a true Kiwi story that will leave cinema audiences feeling closer to the band than ever before. The story of Six60 is one inextricably linked to New Zealand and kiwi culture, but is also a story of love, compassion and never giving up.

‘Six60: Till the Lights Go Out will premiere in New Zealand cinemas later this year.
