'Life Muscle' Release
Posted: Thu Nov 8, 2007 8:27 pm
'Life Muscle’ (out Nov 10th) is Olmecha Supreme’s first live album offering with Captain Imon Starr and his brilliant all-star five piece band.

Olmecha Supreme features the vocal percussion of Aotearoa's Beatbox Champ King Homeboy, the red hot flavour of Cuban Reggaeton artist Jinetero Emcee, talented young blood Myele ‘Manzilla’ Manzanza on drums and seasoned vet Crete Haami on bass.

Starr describes the overall sound as 'afro futuristic roots music' a definition that defies genre classification, encompassing the past, present and future of all genres born of Africa, bringing traditional rhythms and knowledge to the digital realm.

The Lady Snow Blood video and Life Muscle album release party will be held in Wellington on November 10th and will feature the Olmech's with extra special guests 'The Little Bushmen'.

Olmecha Supreme delivers a dramatic, high-energy and mesmerizing live performance, transforming even the shyest of peoples into dancing machines, fusing the traditional Afro-rhythms of roots, reggae, punk rock, hip hop, soul, funk and afro-beat.

Starr has previously released two solo albums ‘The Murkwon Lp’ and ‘Hedfoneresonance’, two albums with Rhombus’ and The Island of Nuvonesia with Nuvonesia a collaborative project with Mark de Clive-Lowe and Manuel Bundy.

The first taster from the album 'Lady Snow Blood' (out now) was influenced by old Samurai movies and the music of the Japanese Sushi shops of Imon’s Hawaiian childhood, the inspiration for the song came to him while playing Shakuhachi (Japanese Flute) in the mists of Alakai swamp.

The b-side single Megaman tells the story of the Olmech's pied piper esque mission to unite the party peeps to save the world from its impending doom "How's it going I'm a megaman, I'll save the world with my big black hands, my MPC and a bunch off fans, my guitar and a bad ass band, until the party people understand we've got em jumping all across the land".
