Jzaman

Bio

Jzaman was born Shaun Jervis in Auckland New Zealand, in 1985. Jzamans interest in hip hop came from listening to Pharoahe Monch, Hi-Tek, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Busta Rhymes. He eventually found himself the proud owner of a MPC and began working on beats and writing rhymes.

Together with Nick Alcock (Cynical / Cockah) and Tom - (eWok), as AWR they produced the demo album The Jzaman and Cynical Movement. Jzaman created most of the beats , with Nick and Jzaman on vocals and promotion, and eWok jumping on the mic regulary.

Although a home studio release, The Jzaman and Cynical Movement got several good reviews in local mags and this created an opportunity for the guys to play around Auckland and Hamilton in gigs promoted by Hard Living Productions and others. Venues include 420, Rising Sun, Fu Bar, Safari Lounge, Kings Arms and Toto's Bacco Room. Since then Jzaman has been back in the studio - this time at Souled Out Records - recording Comfort Zone with Kovi Mongelli (K.O.V)
