Mes 'n Wylde is Kris Lal and James Maeva, the newest Hip Hop/R&B duo to hit the city with their sizzlin’ debut single 'My Baby'.

Life long friends, these two have been making music together since coloured, baggy jeans were in style. Mes (Maeva) provides the live music backdrop using guitar, ukelele and some more traditional Island percussion to weave Wylde’s (Lal) honey lyrics and massive beats into a tapestry of laid back rhythms and silky smooth vocals.

In 2004 the boys took out Mai’s Rhythm Nation, previous winners including Defininate & Bling and Flow on Show. Then in 2005 they were included on the Rhythm Nation Best Of compilation with their hit 'My Flava'.

When Mes 'n Wylde set out to cut a record with Chris Marko of Dubious Bros fame, the man also responsible for producing Katchafire’s double platinum hit 'Revival', the result was the cute, catchy nugget of rolling G-funk, 'My Baby' - the aural equivalent of a smile and a wink. Unsurprisingly they cite Atlanta’s Outkast and Kentucky’s Nappy Roots’ more organic flows as major influences, preferring them to the gangster inspired rhymes and rhythms of the East and West coasts. (In a bizarre ode to their talents, lyrics of theirs were included in the liner notes of TLC’s UK release of their greatest hits ‘Now & Forever’, after Mes 'n Wylde corresponded with the band commiserating the passing of Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopez.)

Nuff said. Mes 'n Wylde will push and progress until there ain’t no room left in the limelight for any one else. Not a question of ‘if’, but ‘when’.
