Sabrosa

Bio

Sabrosa was formerly known as Minus Blindfold and Defect, and was formed in 2000. Sabrosa is an alternative rock band from Wanganui.

The original line up was, Hamish Jellyman, Tim Murray and Drew Perry. They only had a few practices with that line up.

Early in 2001, Adam Calver offered to be our vocalist and Troy Thurston offered to play drums for us, so Hamish moved to Bass Guitar and Drew left the band. In March 2001, Hamish left the band to join his brother and others in a band called 100 Dalmatians, who won the 2001 Rockquest Wanganui Regional Finals. So, Defect was left without a Bass player. Gareth seemed interested in joining a band so he became our Bass player. They later changed our name to Minus Blindfold.

They played our first performance at the 2001 Rockquest but had no luck there but a few days after the Rockquest they got second at a Secondary schools talent quest. In April 2002 Drew Perry rejoined the band as our DJ this time.

In June 2002 They changed our name to Sabrosa and got a new drummer, Stephan Sartan.

Sabrosa is influenced by Tool, Incubus, Blindspott & Rage Against The Machine.

Band Members:
Adam Calver (vocals)
Tim Murray (guitar, vocals)
Gareth Wilson (bass)
Stephan Sartan (drums)
Drew Perry (turntables, percussion)
