Singer-songwriter with a rock edge.
Say Or Do is the musical outlet of Sam French, who has previously played in Silence The City, Broken Avenue
Say Or Do is the stage name of Sam French, a talented musician hailing from the beautiful country of New Zealand. Born and raised in a musically inclined family, Sam was introduced to the world of music at a young age, and it was only a matter of time before he found his true passion.
Sam's musical journey started in the early 2000's when his high school band Ubiquitous won a local bands competition. After high school Sam joined the ska-punk band Quarter 2 as a bass player - the band's energetic performances and catchy tunes quickly earned them a loyal following in the local music scene. However, Sam's thirst for creative expression led him to explore other genres, and he soon formed the heavy rock band Broken Avenue as their guitarist.
However, it was with Silence The City that Sam truly made a name for himself. As the band's bassist, he contributed to their unique sound, which blended hard rock with a touch of metal. The band's debut album, Resilience, was a critical and commercial success, with the singles Go It Alone and Identity receiving funding from NZ On Air for their music videos. The album was also played on various local radio stations, including The Rock.
Silence The City's success saw them support international acts such as Sevendust and Skid Row, and headlining a music festival in New Caledonia. The band's YouTube channel amassed over a million plays, cementing their status as one of New Zealand's most exciting rock acts.
In 2013, Sam released his first solo EP, Watching The World Pass By. The acoustic-heavy EP showcased Sam's songwriting prowess and gave fans a glimpse into his creative mind. Fast forward to the present day, and Say Or Do is set to release new solo material that is more rock-focused. Fans are excited to hear what he has in store, with some comparing his sound to that of the legendary Chris Cornell and Australian rockers Silverchair.
Sam French's journey in the music industry is a testament to his dedication, talent, and passion for music. He has proven time and time again that he is a force to be reckoned with, and his future in the industry looks brighter than ever. With his solo project, Say Or Do, Sam is set to leave his mark on the rock music scene, both in New Zealand and beyond.
