Samuel Gaskin

Bio

Fittingly described as a creative tour de force by Rolling Stone, Creator & Change Agent, Samuel Gaskin has always been one to stand out in a crowd. Not only is he an accomplished Artist and Actor, he also runs his own company Beat Entertainment, a BIPOC LGBTQI+ led and focused entertainment company renowned for truly original bespoke concepts of deep heart.

Rolling Stone also said Reckoning, his 2021 single release, “is one that delights every one of the senses for those lucky enough to witness it”.
It was added to Apple Music's New Music Daily and New In Electronic playlists where it stayed for an epic eleven weeks.

His theatre project of the same name took out four Melbourne fringe awards including:

Best Emerging Indigenous Artist - Supported by Wilin Centre (VCA & MCM)
Market Ready Award - Supported by Regional Arts Victoria
Emerging Company Incubator Award - Supported by Monash Centre for Theatre
Performance & Space Cadet Award - Supported by RISING Melbourne

AND this year Samuel was named a finalist for the 2022 APRA Professional Development Awards.

On top of his creative pursuits, Sam is also a passionate activist for diversity and inclusion in the entertainment industry. His end goal being to decolonise the Australian industry entirely.

His early work Gank spent four weeks at no.1 on the Triple J Unearthed Electro Charts in 2010. Marathon his collaboration with Congo Tardis Number One was signed to New York label Gold Whistle. In 2016 Sam signed with Razor Recordings and released two debut singles, Good Enough and Love.

Having collaborated with some of the most talented people in Australia. Most recently Samuel has been performing and writing almost exclusively with indigenous artists in Australia, working with Yothu Yindi & The Treaty Project and The Merindas.

His next single Rain is a collaboration with The Merindas produced by Aria Award winning collaborator and friend Pip Norman (Troye Sivan, Baker Boy, Kate Miller-Heidke). It is the merging of two Indigenous cultures from Aotearoa, New Zealand and Te Whenua Moemoe, (Land of the Dreamtime) Australia. One of Sam's magic powers is bringing together power houses that would never usually end up in the same room together and Rain is most definitely the result.
