Lee Mvtthews

Bio

Lee Mvtthews are one of New Zealand’s top Drum & Bass acts.

Graham Matthews and Tom Lee, met in 2012, and after discovering they had nearly identical music tastes, Lee Mvtthews formed in 2013. Since then, they’ve appeared in the setlists of the likes of Andy C, Pendulum, Sub Focus, A.M.C, Friction, Netsky, Metrik, Koven, K-Motionz, & Hybrid Minds.

They have become a firm favourite on the New Zealand festival circuit, having played every major festival including Rhythm & Vines, Electric Avenue, Northern Bass & Homegrown along with headlining shows up and down the country. In addition to this, they have become a go-to support act for an array of international acts including Wilkinson, Kanine, Grafix, and ShockOne.

They have released on labels such as UKF, Viper Recordings, DeVice & Dark Machine Records. Their music has clocked up over 50 Million streams across platforms, including their self-released debut album, Bones which is certified Gold, and two of the singles from the album certified Platinum, including Takeover (Ft. Nü).

Takeover has garnered over 15 million plays on Spotify alone & spent over 2 years in the NZ Top 40 Singles charts, reached #1 on the NZ Dance (iTunes) & Radioscope Dance Charts, #8 on the Radioscope Pop Chart and #21 in the Top 100 Radioscope Chart. At the end of 2022, three years after its release, Takeover was the #9 most-played track on NZ radio.

At the end of 2020, Lee Mvtthews took out the award for Best Electronic Artist at the Aotearoa Music Awards. They also placed third in the “Best Newcomer” category at the Drum & Bass Arena Awards (UK) in December 2021 with judges saying it was the first time an act outside of Europe had done so well in this category.

In October & November 2022, Lee Mvtthews toured Australia for the first time as part of the Dark Machine Warehouse Tour, playing to packed rooms in Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney. Once back in New Zealand then they headlined a number of New Zealand’s biggest music festivals - including Rhythm & Vines, Northern Bass, Electric Avenue & Homegrown. They then headed back into the studio to write and record their second album which is set to release in early 2024.

Having just completed a tour in the USA & more international touring locked in for the second half of 2023, Lee Mvtthews show no sign of slowing down!
