Paige

Bio

Growing up in an overly connected world of crowded voices battling for space, there is a unique challenge for up and coming Generation Z artists as they attempt to break through the white noise. It is a world uncharted by previous generations, left to be navigated by the young, creative and the bold. In 2016, Paige, a young singer-songwriter from Auckland, New Zealand opened up her window to the bluescreened universe and her life was forever changed.

With her infamous YouTube channel Paige’s Space and a humble acoustic guitar, Paige uploaded covers of songs that permeated a generation, to eventually sharing originals with her growing fan base. Releasing a debut EP On My Own in 2017, Paige marked her arrival in the music industry. In 2018 she released the singles So Far and Alignments which made waves in the streaming world, then found herself collaborating with fellow Kiwis, Balu Brigada (Slow Dive) and JessB (So Low) while opening for the likes of Nina Nesbitt, George Ezra, Drax Project and Six60.

Teaming up with producers Josh Fountain and Djeisan Suskov (two parts of Kiwi supergroup Leisure), Paige is now set to release a new EP Let Me Grow, a love letter to the coming of age and becoming your most authentic self. Bursting open with the cathartic Cold Blooded, Let Me Grow dives into acceptance and unconditional love, strong themes carried throughout the 6-track offering. Keeping things refined with an acoustic guitar in hand, with deep grooves and minimal added production, Paige lets her internal dialogue speak to love, life, navigating relationships and sexuality.

Paige writes about the experience of falling in love with someone of the same sex as a young person in the anthemic Waves, illustrating the inner turmoil and pressure from society’s outdated expectations about relationships and love. Coming from a place of her own experience, the young singer-songwriter is passionate about using her work to remove the shame and stereotypes associated with being LGBTQI, and challenging stigma.

Bloom shows the fun side of Paige – a warm tune with major singalong moments and a message that is relatable to all humankind: hang onto your youth while it lasts and be accepting while you grow into a bigger, better version of yourself. It seems fitting the EP rounds off with Yellow, echoing Paige’s hope in herself and hope in others, to hold on through life’s turbulence and reach out for help when you need it.

Writing songs is a way of life for the 22 year-old, who has been writing since she was 9 years old. For someone so young, Paige carries an old soul and isn’t afraid of getting honest with her earnest songwriter’s sensibility and velvetine voice. Just like a bee, Paige flutters between catacombed thoughts of the heart and invites us into her cozy space.
