Jim Palmer aka Yimmy is a singer/songwriter who has worked in many bands over the years and has decided to finally release a collection of songs covering his 20 plus years in the industry. The Album titled This Kronic Life took 7 years to complete it covers a 24 year period from 1992 until 2016 and has 21 different musicians on it.

Yimmy began his music adventures back in 1991 in Sydney Australia joining a band called Smotan. This band lasted until Yimmy returned to New Zealand in 1995 where he helped form a band called Shylock with Mike McKenna aka Project Boris.

Support Gigs with Shihad and Head Like A Hole followed by a North Island Tour with Whangarei Band Skin Machine helped produce an EP in 1997 called Pound.

Shylock disbanded in 1999 due to personal differences in the band's direction.
Yimmy then focused on his cover band Something Stupid which had been playing the local circuit in Whangarei since 1998. The decision was made to keep playing cover gigs but slowly introduce original songs into the set over time. This resulted in a full Album recorded and released in 2007. The Album was called And You Are? and the band had changed its name to Gridlock. Promotion of the Album continued with tours and shows all over the North Island and even a show back in Australia in 2010.

In between this project, Yimmy helped form a band called The Bastards Of Finn which played a few shows over a couple of years before everyone went onto other things in 2002.
Yimmy continued to write and record into the new Millenium doing vocal tracks for The Project Boris Album and also former Skin Machine member Steve Wesleys solo Album.

Yimmy began work on his debut solo album This Kronic Life in 2010, finally completing it in 2017.The Album was officially released in May 2018.

2019 Yimmy and the band Hearse Nurse recorded and released an EP called Live At The Windsor. Also there was a brief reunion with Shylock for some live gigs in Whangarei and Dargaville.

2019 also saw a move to Auckland where things were put on hold for a couple of years but still continuing to write for the Smotan Album and in 2022 he joined a small covers band called The Rulerz.
