Coral Pitcher

Bio

From her very first stage performance, dancing to an audience of 1200 at Hamilton’s Founder’s Theatre, it seemed certain that Coral Pitcher would follow a career on the stage. Three years later she returned to that very same stage as a soloist with Suzanne Prentice and the New Zealand “Kids for Kids” national concert

These early experiences focussed Coral’s life goals and ambitions. Music, quite literally became her life. Every opportunity to learn and grow as a musician was grasped with open arms. The daughter of a solo parent, there wasn’t much ready money available for lessons so Coral threw herself into school program: School Plays, choirs, guitar, piano, and vocal training were all accessed at school. Live performing experience was gained by attending music clubs and festivals, and by busking at the local market every Saturday morning.

As her confidence grew Coral began singing competitively! Starting with school singing competitions, and then moving up to regional and national competitions such as Waikato’s Young Entertainers, Battle of the Bands and Rock-Quest. Often winning or placing in the top three! In 2008 she made it to the semi-finals of TVs New Zealand’s Got Talent”

Still in school, Coral then joined her mother Emmeline - herself a successful singer and seasoned performer - in her professional road shows. They performed in hotels, charter clubs, festivals, theatres and private functions, Traveling every weekend the length and breadth of New Zealand.

Coral thrived in the business, strengthening both her vocals and her live performance skills. She also learned the practical and business side of the industry by setting up stage shows, including a PA and lighting. Through this exposure to promotion and marketing, Coral developed strong communication skills by talking to many different people from all walks of life. This is reflected in the easy flow of conversation she maintains with her audience whenever she performs.

It swiftly became clear that this talented young musician was more than ready for her own gigs as a solo singer/guitarist so she started working regularly in hotels, restaurants, weddings, private functions, festivals etc. performing 3 to 5 gigs a week. Her 2014 appearance singing at a “Chiefs” rugby match for a 20000 strong crowd was a real highlight for her, and the crowd lapped it up!

Coral started writing her own music at the age fourteen and has a strong writing partnership with her mother, . her ear for writing a catchy and interesting melody is the perfect fit for Emmeline's talent with words and rhyme.

When Coral and Emmeline sit down together, they write from a combined experience of love and life. Add to that a voice that is young, but seasoned, has a quality that is different, yet classic and tones so beautiful you want to stop, sit down and just listen. The result is magical!

Recording was the next step and after winning a band competition Coral recorded her first original song " Second hand Serving' (Available for free download SoundCloud) Gaining her lots of attention on you-tube and growing her local fan base. Coral then signed with Starlight Entertainment and released her first official single "The Rolling Stone." (available on iTunes) Expanding her social media, growing her fan base in New Zealand and globally, receiving international reviews and radio plays in USA. The Single release party was a triumph selling over 400 tickets!

Coral left Starlight Entertainment to pursue a different path with her music and released her Acoustic EP last year to sell at her gigs, selling over 350 copies to date (Available at live shows on CD or free download on SoundCloud)

After a successful fundraising campaign with Indiegogo Coral raised enough money to start work on her first fully produced EP Living on the Moon!!! The first single from the album 'Shooting you up' was released on May 2015.
