Lomez Brown

Bio

Lomez brown is an up and coming, independent reggae artist from Auckland, New Zealand. His self-made debut album “Just so Fyne”, released in June 2012 consists of various original tracks that have gained over 500,000 views via YouTube. Recently, his music has been playing on NIU FM and other local NZ radio stations and has also become available on ITUNES.

Amongst other artists in the same music scene, Lomez is becoming known for his unique style of reggae music. Lomez is renowned for his distinctive vocal flair, harmonies, powerful stage presence and “body swaying” beats. Influenced by bands like ub40, Bob Marley and Eddie Lovette, people describe his music as “feel good, smooth-lovers reggae music”.

A Cook Island/ NZ Maori brother from central Auckland, Lomez played drums and guitar as a youngster but didn’t take music seriously until his early 20’s. Lomez explains, “ I started writing songs to express myself. That’s when I really started to like reggae music. I was naturally drawn to the feel that it gave me”.

Lomez’s past life experiences and present position as a youth worker in Auckland high schools heavily inspire his music. Lomez aims to build facilities in future where young, aspiring musicians can be given an opportunity to pursuit music careers. He believes that “there are so many gifted young people out there, I just want to give them the tools and opportunities that they need”.

Joining reggae band “Unknown Peace” in 2009, Lomez began to take his songs from his bedroom to the stage. HIs band slowly became known as a rising reggae band. Winners of the New Zealand National Battle of the Bands competition in 2009, a supporting act for various bands and artists like; Common kings (usa), Soljah, Chefu and more.

With new ideas Lomez began to record music independently. The first song he made gained a positive response from his friends, which motivated him to make more. Within a month, his song “Tonight’s the night” had begun to spread locally.
Soon after, various music YouTube channels began to share Lomez’s music. This was the beginning of Lomez public recognition.

Lomez is a dynamic artist. He is confident, passionate, creative and skilled in musicianship as well as Audio production. He has experience performing in all settings from back yards through to large festivals/concerts. Whether he is playing in a full band or on his own, Lomez performs at a high level every time he takes a stage. He also has experience in working in professional recording studios, for example, York Street Studio, Parnell.

In 2012, Lomez’s music became recognised from promoters off shore, earning him the opportunity to gig live in Melbourne, Australia. Due to a successful show there, Lomez was then invited to play in Sydney, once in July then again in October. His music also took him to Brisbane that year. On his travels he was privileged to play along side other international artists, Ed Ru (Sweet n irie), Alo Key (USA) and Sammielz (AUS).

In 2013, Lomez opened as a support act for American reggae singer Josh “wawa” White. He also performed in Las Vegas, Nevada as a headlining act along side Justin Wellington (AUS) in early February. Lomez also played in Hawaii, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne again in 2013.

This year 2014, Lomez has already played the official ragamuffin pre party, which is a big step in his career. He plans to release new music containing his signature style of smooth lovers rock reggae. In his new album will be songs that aim to inspire people and spread a positive message of Peace. With groovy base lines, clean drum tracks, unique harmonies and authentic keyboards; Lomez is sure that his next album will be enjoyed by all reggae lovers, old and new. Lomez aims to release his first music videos and merchandise line this year.
