Wash

Bio

Wash originate from the surf beaches of Tauranga and are now based in Auckland. For eight years they have been working together to develop their own distinctive sound - fat analog synths pump, and rock guitars drive rap and melody over a foundation of heavy grooves and solid beats. Described as Nu-rock, the sound derives from rapcore and rock.

In 1996, the first EP titled 'Sandjacket' was released. It was produced by the band, and the 8 songs were recorded at Villa Studios in Rotorua.

Their second EP release surfaced in 1998, and like the title suggests - 'A Short Film' - it was designed as a limited edition release with all 500 copies selling out very quickly. This release was produced by David Lichens (Nashville, USA) and was recorded at Chapel Studios in Auckland, New Zealand.

'Epilogue' has been their first commercial CD release. It was once again an EP, was released during September of 2000, and featured their 3 radio hits 'Shape', 'Sunbleed', and 'Who Am I'. It was produced by Darren Poole (Out of Proportion Productions), and was also recorded at Chapel Studios.

In 2002, Wash signed directly with Hydrogen records from New York. This is a huge ahievement, considering they've never signed a NZ deal. Hydroden are currently preparing the US for the day Wash hit!

'Feel The Sun' is the first single to be released from Wash’s debut album (produced by Darren Poole - Massive Artists Recordings). The track has been described as a "Summer Anthem" powering the beaches over the 2002/03 summer. 'Feel The Sun' has been playing regularly on Channel Z - reaching #2 and featuring regularly on the Top 9 at 9, Life FM - #1, The Rock, The Edge and many other radio stations throughout NZ. The debut album is being completed and all the elements are falling into place. Keep an ear to the ground as plans work towards the release!!

Wash have performed headline and support shows at numerous venues around New Zealand including Big Day Out 2000, 2001, 2003, Parachute Festival, Paihia 2000 - 25,000 attendees, Napier 2002, The Oracle (formerly The Powerstation), Auckland Town Hall, The Kings Arms, plus venues all over the country. Support slots have included Linkin Park, Jebadiah and Tadpole.

In April 2003, Wash took on their biggest project to date - an 18 week National High Schools Tour, hitting 75 schools from Invercargill to Kaitaia. This tour was a huge success and lifted both the profile and the fan base of Wash to new heights.

Wash has now disbanded.

Wash - NineFiveZeroFive

WASH, Massive Artists and Cruel Records are pleased to announce the release of WASH’s new album 'NineFiveZeroFive'.

'NineFiveZeroFive' will be available at New Zealand music retailers from Monday 21 February.

This highly anticipated WASH release features 13 new songs and eight bonus tracks. It includes the singles 'Walk Away', 'Feel The Sun', 'Survive', 'Flow', 'Shape', 'Who Am I' and 'Sunbleed'.

“We are really happy with NineFiveZeroFive,” says lead singer Ivan Beets. “It’s been a lot of hard work over a long period of time, but we’re very proud of the outcome. We appreciate the patience and support of our fans during the making of ninefivezerofive. You won’t be disappointed … the wait has all been worth it.”

After lengthy negotiations with their American record company Hydrogen, WASH has obtained permission to release 'NineFiveZeroFive' in New Zealand via local label Cruel Records.

A pre-release version of 'NineFiveZeroFive' recently sold out at the Parachute 05 festival held at Mystery Creek in January.

For the past ten years Auckland-based WASH has been developing their own distinctive sound incorporating a good chunk of hard rock, a little rapcore, a bit of punk, some fat analogue synth, a dash of new wave and a few hardcore tricks.

In partnership with Massive Artists producer Darren Poole (The Have, Colliding Traits) WASH has become one of New Zealand’s most passionate, convicted and hard-hitting rock acts … as is evident on the recording 'NineFiveZeroFive'.

WASH’s latest radio single 'Like The First Time? (Trapped)' is currently being released to radio, with music video to follow in early March. WASH is also conducting a nationwide 'NineFiveZeroFive' tour commencing in Christchurch Friday 18 February and culminating in Auckland late April.
