The Diamond Rings

Bio

A mutual love of vocal harmony and keen ears for melodic pop, infused with humor and laconic wit, has seen The Diamond Rings come together to release their debut album 'The Rasper' on Monday 15 June.

The Diamond Rings were born early 2005, in a small home studio at 'The Ranch' in Wellsford, Auckland. 'The Ranch' is the family home of Dance Exponents founding member and guitarist Brian Jones, who joined old mate "Little Ross" Hollands (of early Flying Nun act Bird Nest Roys and mid-nineties Globule Recordings band The Tufnels), to form The Diamond Rings.

'The Rasper' has been largely recorded at Neil Finn's Roundhead Studios in Auckland with gun engineer and producer Neil Baldock. The band also enlisted the musical expertise and experience of fellow Dance Exponents members Dave Gent and Michael Harralambi, and the 'Third Ring' - Squeeze Box and Piano player extraordinaire - Dr Steve Maric, for the album.

The Diamond Rings are releasing their debut album on Little Donkey Again Records through Universal Music, combining this with a series of live shows in Auckland showcasing 'The Rasper', and a few other snippets of musical nostalgia thrown in for good measure. Don't miss this chance to see and hear this for yourself - a wee slice of New Zealand pop history.
