HUMAN

Bio

HUMAN - the name that is synonymous with New Zealand metal.

This Christchurch based four piece band, established in 1992, have long been pushing the boundaries of traditional metal music in New Zealand to create a musical style they can truly call their own. Encompassing the awesome abilities of Scott Spatcher-Harrison (vocals / lead guitar), Kezz Brewster (8 string rhythm guitar) and Vaughn Richardson (vocals / distorted bass) and Daniel Pawsey (drums), HUMAN present audiences with a ferocious sonic attack of blindingly fast rhythms and skillfully played melody, made ever more fearsome with the triple vocal frontline covering the low / mid / high range growls, screams and roars.

In it's time HUMAN have become one of the most respected names in New Zealand metal. Having played alongside international heavyweights the like of Dragonforce, Cannibal Corpse and Suffocation, the band have gained a reputation as a band that has truly earned it's status and standing in the scene. With a large back catalog of recordings, live television performances, festival headline slots and a massive fan base HUMAN have proved that with no label an independent band can still come out on top. With hundreds of shows behind them, including both local and overseas, the band looks set to continue for many years to come.

The band's latest album 'Cadaver Academy' shows HUMAN in top form doing what it does best, and delivers 12 crushing tracks in just under an astounding 27 minutes (Reign In Blood anybody???). The album has gone on to be one of the fastest selling local metal albums of the past year.

You can support HUMAN by becoming a fan on any one of their official sites as listed below.

HUMAN new release and tour dates
Posted: Wed Aug 12, 2009 5:10 pm
In May this year, Christchurch death metal quartet HUMAN set out on their 3rd full length tour of New Zealand in support of their much hyped, yet much anticipated new album titled 'Cadaver Academy.'

On August 17th, Auckland based music distributor Border Music will be releasing 'Cadaver Academy' in stores nationwide. The album boasts 12 quick fire tracks that get the bands' live energy and sinister humour across perfectly without losing the chaotic sound that they have become accustom to producing. With blazing double kick drumming, rumbling distorted bass lines, shredding guitar work and no less than four vocals working the songs to great effect, it's no surprise that earlybird reviews of the album have been extremely enthusiastic thus far:

"... not surprisingly this band’s many years of experience has resulted in them being masters of the intricate craft of combining only the sickest humour with brutal Metal." - NZ Rock.com

"If there was a best metal category at the New Zealand Music Awards - like there is at the Grammys - then Christchurch quartet Human's latest album would be a contender. If not the winner." (4 stars) - NZ Herald

HUMAN embark on an abridged national tour at the end of October this year, and will also be performing alongside American metallers Cannibal Corpse in September.

Future HUMAN shows:

28th August: HUMAN + Plague Of The Fallen and guests
Zebedees, CHRISTCHURCH (All ages)

8th September: HUMAN (supporting CANNIBAL CORPSE)
The Bedford, CHRISTCHURCH

October 29th: HUMAN + Majera and guests
Al's Bar, CHRISTCHURCH

October 30th: HUMAN (performing after party for SUFFOCATION)
Transmission Room, AUCKLAND

October 31st: HUMAN + Backyard Burial and guests
Hole In The Wall, WELLINGTON

New drummer!
Posted: Wed Jul 9, 2008 9:14 am
We are pleased to announce we have found ourselves a new drummer. His name is Nikolas Kissel and he's the war machine on the skins we never thought we'd find!

In addition, we have decided to scrap the recorded tracks for our new album and to start the process over with Nik playing the tracks. This way, we sound as current as we can.

So, expect something heavier and over-the-top from us very soon!

New HUMAN album is underway
Posted: Tue Nov 13, 2007 8:56 pm
We have finally decided upon a title for our new album which we're still in the process of making. "CADAVER ACADEMY" is the new title! I imagine the album cover is going to be pretty sick. And believe it or not, that's probably the hardest part about making an album (for us anyway!) so phew! More album updates as they come to hand. Meantime, please spread the word.

HUMAN and TRIAL BY FIRE - "Scourge, Purge, And Burn" NZ Tour - October 2006

HUMAN and TRIAL BY FIRE
"SCOURGE, PURGE, AND BURN” – New Zealand Tour 2006
Official Press Release

The New Zealand heavy metal music scene has been enjoying a quiet lull as of late. Until now that is. This October the best of the south island team up with the new blood of the north in a co-headlining New Zealand tour known as the “Scourge, Purge, And Burn Tour”.

Death metal veterans Human (Christchurch) ripped through the country earlier in March this year on their “Amputation Of A Nation” tour, playing to hundreds of new faces along the way. Their unique brand of ultra fast grindcore and onstage antics made them a hit in uncharted territories in the north island, and kept them in good stead in the south. Now with a solid reputation preceding them, Human will be headlining shows in the north island leg of the up-and-coming tour.

Trial By Fire hail from Auckland and are probably the technical ‘yang’ to Human (being the chaotic ‘ying’). Says vocalist Ross McGuire of the Trial By Fire sound; 'Our influences are from mainly classic rock and metal bands over death metal bands so it has naturally filtered into our writing that the focus is on melody, dynamics, and singing.' The “Scourge, Purge and Burn Tour” will be the first country wide tour the band has embarked upon.

Christchurch's HUMAN will be hitting 5 New Zealand centres on their "Amputation Of A Nation" tour in March 2006.

Dunedin, Christchurch, Wellington, and finally Hamilton and Auckland will all get their chance to witness the masters of the living bread in all of their metal glory. Supported by some of NZ's best local acts, this will be a tour that must be seen to be believed.

Keep your eyes peeled here or at the band's official website for the finalised dates and show line ups.
