Charlie ASH UK/Euro Tour 2009 Posted: Sat May 9, 2009 10:42 am Charlie ASH, that Auckland-based four-piece known for their synthy indie-pop sounds and spectacular live shows, are leaving NZ for a five-week tour of Europe. Starting off in the UK with a sold-out show supporting Ladyhawke at Koko in London, the band is also playing the Great Escape festival in Brighton (the SXSW of Europe) and the Liverpool SoundCity festival. Berlin and Amsterdam gigs will follow: the group is especially excited to be sharing the bill with fellow Kiwis, Flying Nun legends The Bats, in Amsterdam. The tour coincides with the release of their latest single in New Zealand. “Wake Up (You’re Not Asleep Now),” currently climbing the NZ alternative charts, was produced by James Duncan and celebrates one alternative to recession doom ‘n’ gloom: “Let’s all live in fantasy.” And what better fantasy to come true than a string of European dates for this up-and-coming band? See Charlie ASH live in UK/Europe: 14th May - The Great Escape Festival @ Latest Music Bar w/ The Last Republic Etc. (Brighton) 15th May - The Great Escape Festival @ Arc W/ The RGBs, Lights & Ruby Jean & The Thoughtful Bees (Brighton) 16th May - The Fly w/ John Drake, Hoodoo Scoundrels & The Blacklist (London) 17th May - Barfly w/ Gran Ronde, Santigo Sound & The Bike Theives (Cardiff) 21st May - Koko w/ Ladyhawke (London) 23rd May - Liverpool Soundcity Festival @ Bumper W/ My Amiga, The Dirty Goods Etc. (Liverpool) 6th June - Winston Kingdom w/ The Bats (Amsterdam) 13th June - Villa w/ Cerebral Vortex (Berlin) |
