Mozelee

Bio

Following hard on the success of their last single and music video 'Breathe', Auckland rockers Mozelee have recently released their latest radio single 'What About You'. Claimed by many fans to be their best song yet 'What About You' is the fourth and final track to be sent to radio from Mozelee's debut EP. Lead singer Marc Hamilton unashamedly states that 'What About You' is "basically our big, girly, rock ballad. It's the song that everyone sings along to at our shows. It goes off live and we are confident it will do the same at radio."

Formed in 2002, Mozelee took their name from the street in Devonport where bass player Dave lived at the time. The band's big, straight-up rock sound has been compared to that of Nickelback, Dishwalla and Matchbox 20.

"All melodic, soul searching vocals and chunky sonic guitars a formula that works though, with catchy radio singles clean pop hooks - Mozelee know their market." -
New Zealand Herald.

Mozelee have performed over 100 gigs, building a strong following and frequently packing out venues, with audience numbers totalling over 30,000. They have featured on The Good Morning Show, National Radio, The Rock FM, Nightline, The Edge FM, ZM, Sports Café, Maori TV, TV2, Juice TV, C4 and in a variety of publications and websites.

After placing second in the 2003 Lion Red National Battle of the Bands (Best Rock Act) and picking up the APRA Best Songwriting Award at the same event, Mozelee recorded their debut EP at York Street Studios with Nic Manders (Zed, Elemeno P, Brooke Fraser) and Darren Poole (Wash, The Have). The EP was released during Mozelee's 'Inertia 2004' nationwide summer tour is available for sale at CD & DVD Stores throughout New Zealand.

"Belting out power chords and powerhouse vocals with the best of them ' big on sound ' packs a commercially-friendly punch and is gaining plenty of airplay." - Rip It Up.

Mozelee's first radio single from the EP, 'Complete', was funded by New Zealand on Air and received radio play with stations including The Rock and Channel Z. Their second single, 'Something Real', featured on the NZ on Air Indie Hit Disc No. 28 and was warmly received by rock format stations throughout New Zealand. Mozelee produced the 'Something Real' music video with Zoomslide director Adam Jones (Steriogram, Eight, The Have & OpShop) and were finalists for Breakthrough Video and performers at the 4th Annual Juice TV Awards.

The single 'Breathe' was on Kiwi Hit Disc No. 68 and went to air with The Edge, More FM, The Rock and ZM. The 'Breathe' music video was directed by Sam Peacocke (Farmer Pimp) and received plenty of attention from C4, Juice TV and TV2. The band were also warmly received by the good folks down south while on their recent South Island Summer 'Breathe' Tour, which was sponsored by The Edge FM and Export Gold. Following the release of 'What About You', Mozelee plan to focus on pre-producing the new material they have been writing and performing before heading back to the studio to record a full-length album.

Mozelee disbanded in early 2005.
