EPITOME TO CALL IT A DAY
Posted: Wed Jul 19, 2006 8:59 am
OK guys,

This is finally it ..

Epitome have stuck together through thick and thin .. through 4 and a half years of gruelling competition, and come above it all.
Having placed 2nd in the NZ National Final of 2005's Battle Of The Bands competition, complete 2 north island tours, had 2 commercial radio singles, and 3 music videos, due to personal reasons Epitome have decided to call it a day.

Grant is about to get married - and we wish him the best for that, Sam also due to get married early next year, Warren with other pursuits, and Carl continuing on with music.

We would love to thankyou all so much from the bottom of our hearts for the support you have shown us over the last few years.

On a higher note, We will be completing our debut album "Pass The Blame" in our spare time, as for scheduled release in early '07, and will be releasing that at our farewell party with one hell of a bang.

We would love to extend our personal thanks to the following people who have been amazing ...
Jono Pryor, Robert Taylor, Dave Rhodes, Chris Yong, Suzi Cotter, Louise from Area 51, Boyd Thwaites, Lisa Saunders, Andrew Treeby, Brendon Lodge, and especially PAT CALLIS (you have been our hero Pat). Also thanks to all of those who we have left off this list - it doesnt mean your not important, just that im having a mind block writing this.

we look forward to seeing you in other projects along the way.

Carl, Grant, Warren, Sam

SINGLE RELEASE PARTY
Posted: Tue Jun 14, 2005 12:45 pm
Following the success of their first single "Wait Your Turn" released to radio in Sept 2004, The Four piece hard rock act from Auckland known as Epitome have let loose with a more powerful, aggressive, and even catchier second single titled "Tighten The Noose".

Recorded at York St with master engineer Dave Rhodes behind the mixing desk, lead singer Grant Marshall's gutsy voice screams out over the top of two heavy guitars, a big drum sound, and a wicked bass track which drives the entire single.

In the style of all good hard rock bands, Epitome have excluded any additions of any samples in this single.

This single will be released in tradiotional Epitome style on the 8th of July downstairs at The Masonic Tavern in Devonport (on Aucklands North Shore) with a big release party - in which Epitome invite YOU, and all of your friends/colleagues/relatives to enjoy a night of good solid New Zealand Rock !

Epitome's new music video, produced by Brendon Lodge @ Madness Productions will also be released to TV at the same time. Be sure to keep your eye open for this new track from Epitome.

Thanks guys,

Grunter, Wazz, Sam, and Carl.

Ok .. now for another biggie ..

News from www.loudmouth.co.nz (brought to you by V, and jigsaw music)

The first JigSaw Music Leg Up gig is happening at Unitech on April 7 with Epitome, Sonic, The Sushi, Ziko and Niall Martin.

Epitome. Powerful, Catchy, Raw, Loud, and Rock. These are a few words that have been used to describe Epitome's diversely unique sound. Their first single 'Wait Your Turn' has been playlisted on The Rock, C4, and Juice. They're back into the studio soon to record their second single 'Tighten The Noose'.

Sonic are a Auckland based pop/rock band heralded as one of New Zealand's biggest potential groups. Their music is varied with tunes like 'Little Darling' that gently pulse along and the single 'Elevator' to change direction and get the venue jumping. The new EP 'Blonde' is out now.

The Sushi, who formed in 2000, are an energetic, catchy pop/punk band looking to make big waves in 2005 and ready to take the music to as many people as humanly possible.determined dedicated and raring to be let out of the starting blocks at full speed.

Ziko are a 4 piece act, exploring the ground between groove based rock and electronica. Ziko have been playing gigs all over Auckland over the last year or so, including the Kings Arms, the Dogs Bollix and the Ambassador.

Niall Martin plays original songs with his acoustic guitar for company. He arrived in New Zealand in 2003 from Dublin. While in Ireland he recorded some demo tracks and played support several times for Paddy Casey. He's played several open mic nights around Auckland.

So remember - Thurs April 7th, @ Auckland's Unitec.

We are back in NZ's Premier recording studio "York St" on easter weekend laying down the new drum track for our next single. We will be working with Dave Rhodes again on this to get our second single happening just for you !

did you come and check it out bonnie ? ..
should have introduced yourself Happy

The Mill packed out - when we got on stage there was just on 200 people in the place, but by the time we got off stage, there was between 800 and 1000 people in The Mill.

i liked Mofolicious, Hedrush were ok - i thought they were a little dissonant, but overall good.

Nah it's sweet.

Amplifier offers a great service to many artists. It would be cool to do the same thing here, but banks charge way too much to process online credit card payments, which is fine when you're doing something to make money...

Good luck anyway. Hope it goes well and you raise heaps of dough Very Happy

We would love to keep doing shows to raise money for starship belle - but unfortunately its taken myself, and a bunch of others about 4 months to organise this event. .. come along the week after and check us out at the brownsey with the mellatones - its going to be a way more laid back gig, but should be cool.

we have alot of new material since the likes of "fade" and "you will be mine". so far we have decided on a song called "Wait Your Turn" which we believe to be the best of the material we have so far - and by far, the one that grabs the crowds attention the most.

Hey guys, Epitome are set to record there first radio single during July & August.
The single will be mixed and produced by the famous Dave Rhodes - drummer of Stylus, who helped with production work on the Blindspott album, and recently mixed/produced the Rabble's first single.

This should be released to the airwaves by sept/october 2004.

Epitome Seeking Guitarist
Posted: Mon May 3, 2004 8:05 pm
Epitome are now in the search to broaden there music range by adding a new guitarist.

If you are sort of 18 to 22ish .. and play a good solid rhythm guitar .. and
want to practice on Tuesday nights, and gig often .. shoot me an email at [email protected]

We are doing auditions soon - backing vocals would be a big help too.

Check out http://www.epitomeband.com for the sorts of things we have already accomplished - such as recently opening for Stylus, and Bolbox Rex.

Epitome News Article
Posted: Thu Oct 23, 2003 7:35 pm
Shore band Epitome is testing the market with its first EP called 'Testing the Water'.

People may remember brothers Grant and Warren Marshall with Carl Hayman in a band called Dissident.

A name change, a Battle of the Bands appearance, lots of gigs, and four months in the studio and the band has got there.

The band's EP is produced by Jackson Andrews and was released at The Venue in Browns Bay on Thursday.

"We're not a band that has to hype our music, we believe it speaks for itself," Grant says.

Carl says the EP itself is testing the market for Epitome's style of music, and people are anxious to get a copy.

Emails flood in after gigs from people complaining that songs like 'Fade' are stuck in their heads, Carl says.

Epitome performed its first single Lost live on the Good Morning Show recently and is planning a North Island tour at the beginning of next year. According to the Oxford dictionary Epitome means somethign on a small scale that shows the qualities of something much larger, perhaps just what the band is hoping their EP will do. = )

I doubt many people will read this before they play, but TODAY (Thursday 18 September) they are playing on the good morning show. I'll sure be watching it!

I also heard the ep the other night and agree it is really really really cool. I'd say there aren't too many bands today who you could go and hear the same thing. I hear many influences in there, from Audioslave to Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

GREAT STUFF!

I've just listened to a lil' sneak peak of the up and coming Epitome EP 'Testing The Water' - and these guys are definatley something you should look out for!

From this one pre-mix track I can tell this is one band that is going to go far, just as soon as New Zealand gets a taste of them - so make sure you buy the new EP when it comes out (or we might have it in a competition soon so you can win it here)

I heard that the band is very unhealthy... both sexually and musically.

I know the singers health in particular has delayed some of the recording. It'll all be worth the wait though... because the EP is gonna rock!

Producer Jacko Andrews is a legend... I went in breifly and everyone loves him. While I was there, a Courier Post guy walked in off the street and asked for Jacko's signature... The courier was quite rude about it but not everyone was brought up as well as me.
