East York are back with their third single, Damned Anthem.
With two singles firmly under belt, East York continue to go from strength to strength with their creativity and musicality. Damned Anthem is a strong tune that has some solid crunchy riffs and great energy just like their first single, Outsiders.
In a recent interview with guitarist, Daz Coppins, it was stated that East York’s intention with their music is to offer an escape, and they done that with what they have released thus far. Lyrically, I interpret Damned Anthem as another chance of reflection in this world, especially our new normal amid COVID and all its uncertainty.
It offers hope although with some reservation but above all, is also a damn solid tune that will liven your spirit and get your heart rate pumping in that mosh pit.
Well done.
From a normal start to a pandemic release, East York brings you their first ever single Outsiders.
It’s April 2020, the world is in lockdown and Zane has been sending drum ideas to Daz to write riffs over and now they have a batch of banging instrumentals, ready for collaboration. We see Eric move to Melbourne from Toronto Canada, reconnecting with Daz after 10 years apart. Finally the internet brings Tarquin into the mix, who demo’s three songs and fires them back. Everyone agrees "let’s do this thing" and East York is born.
When talking about the new track, Tarquin (Vocalist) says: "Outsiders is a tribute to the ones who walk on the outside of society. It speaks to those of us who play the game of life on our own terms and, who don't care to swim with the tide." It is always a journey of discovery when starting a new band but East York have found their grounding in Rock.
