The Knids are a Tauranga based alternative rock band.
At first listen this is a very low-fi recording, although I get the impression that is on purpose. Once the keys
and full force drums come in, they set a Florence And The Machine type scene with angsty vocals
from Mike and complementary clean vocals from Corinne. The piano solo stands out and is almost
too short, leaving you hanging for more.
The lyrics and the accompanying music video for Habit are emotive, and in my opinion, paint a young love story - it's definitely worth watching. Mike is a multi-instrumentalist - playing, recording and mixing; capturing a raw uncompromising sound.
Mike and Corinne also play in The Dead Man 6, with the body of The Knids material coming from their "cutting room floor", you can more find here. I give this track a thumbs up, and a 3/5 and I'll look forward to hearing more from Mike and Corinne.
The Kinds are Michael Baxter, Corinne Rutherford and Chris Sheenan. Rescuing songs destined for the cutting room floor from various other original creative musical projects. Loosely classifying themselves as low-fi indie rock, there may be something else in their mix which will surprise you. Sit back. Have a listen, and prepare yourselves for a new experience.
