Monty Willers - Single Review: Play No More

07 Jun 2020 // A review by Freecell

Here's the latest tune by upcoming Hip-Hop/RnB artist Monty Willers - Play No More.

The song starts off with some lush guitar strings on the intro, which kind of reminds me of Fade to Black by Metallica. The guitars and Monty's vocals give the song a great start as it builds; Monty's vocal range and smooth singing voice is standout, as his singing is strong and stunning.

When the bass line and beat drops, the track has a very modern Hip-Hop and RnB sound. However, there is a new fresh element to Monty's sound; he's made this song and sound his own and it doesn't have the usual Hip-Hop style template to a typical breakdown. A third of the way through the song there is a simple synth bass and his vocals act like a bridge. This really makes the song interesting.

After the faded out bridge the beat and bass line comes back hitting hard. The drop sounds on point as the bass and kick drum sound massive. All the elements of the instrument arrangements and vocals sound outstanding together. At times during the song I am reminded of Linkin Park

South Island artist Monty Willers has done an excellent job with creating this great track. It has elements of a dancing song while being ripe for radio play. The arrangement of Play No More was captivating and the feeling behind the song is deep with the hardest decision of any relationship in today's world; when two lovers lose their connection and continue a failing relationship out of comfort. Monty has well and truly stepped up with Play No More.
