LA Thompson - Single Review: Lovelight

12 Jul 2018 // A review by Corinne Rutherford
Prolific supporter and promoter of NZ indie artists and talented song writer / musician LA Thompson has just released a song by Brett Howes. This is collaboration with Brett who is also a member of the LMM Network which LA Thompson (Shirley Howe) founded. Lovelight has been released as a lyric video produced by LA Thompson and featuring her on vocals and Brett on piano.

LA Thompson has a beautiful voice perfectly suited for this style of arrangement, it is a soulful ballad. Brett Howes wrote the moving lyrics in memory of a lost love, a touching song about letting go. “Love, life and loss are experienced daily, and this song is a wonderful tribute to a loved one”.

This is a robust single release at 5 minutes and 23 seconds however Brett finishes the track off with a solo on the piano which provided a lovely conclusion to the song. Filming by Byron Taylor adds a touch of piano bar glamour to the track.

Brett has previously written several songs and is supported closely by Shirley and Local Musicians Music. Lovelight and the accompanying video reflect the dedication and professionalism of LA and her team of musicians.
