Sarah Conlan - Sarah Conlan Singles Review

25 May 2013 // A review by Miss_Jukebox

Sarah Conlan, a young country singer/songwriter is part of a country music resurgence happening before our eyes.

I always thought of country music as a self-contained genre. Its audience was stereotypically... well country folk. But now, country music fans are diverse. This can be attributed to young artists reinvigorating the genre in this country-pop crossover. Taylor Swift is the example that comes to mind, one of the biggest names in music right now.

Now, back to Sarah. Having already won a multitude of awards for her singing and song-writing, she is working on her first EP and has recorded a few singles in the meantime. Sweet Country Boy and Didn’t I showcase Conlan’s gentle vocals and dulcet tones.

Didn’t I in particular is a great song. This track has a strong spirit about a woman deciding she is better off without a man who left her. Country music is known for its strong female singers. Independent and powerful women, it is one of the genres where I think female artists are just as recognised as male artists. Conlan is certainly following this tradition and making her mark as a future country star.

-Janise.

And in the same understated way his career has unfolded so far, his new single Burning Sun retains the unassuming charm and placidity of his sound.
