Interconnector - EP Review – Interconnector (Self-Titled)

Interconnectors’ self-titled, 6-track, self-titled EP, is chock-full of wicked air guitar moments, groovy tweaky choruses, and mellow chewy rhythmic bits all melted together with genuine beasty and grungy rock ‘n f’n roll. A staunch album; it will be staying in my playlist rotation for a long long time to come.
Another fine offering from Isaac Promotions and the Rock Factory – pretty soon they can release their own Guitar Hero! That’d be wicked awesome.
Wide-ranging and experimental while still staying faithful to their unique and awesome sound, the talented lads have been positively influenced by the best parts of a wide range of stellar artists – I reckon Interconnector could be fucken huge – watch this space!
1 – Electric Mistress – fuck it, I play it dumb!
Tastes of a more bluesy Datsuns, but more mature. Clean and clear vox, melded intricately with precise gax and rhythm. A snappy and groovy start to the EP.
2 – Do You Swing?
Nice blend from track 1, change of tone with some trippy intro gax. Reminds me of the Cure, but with heart.
3 – Valiant
Tweaky and grinding axes to hook you in, massively grand chorus rolls on in and rocks on out in perfect rhythm. I had to keep listening over and over it was so captivating. Awesomely orchestrated and performed – nice one.
4 – Fucked in the Head
Want to get a party going? Crank this up as loud as you can – a perfect moshing song, packed full of legendary riffs and short droppy rhythms, ebbing and flowing at just the right times – the kind of song you can imagine a stadium full of people rocking out to. Another truly epic song.
5 – Piglet
Punk rock drum beat, strong bass and kick-ass attitude throughout. A perfect follow-through from the previous track, a solid and groovy song.
6 – To All My Friends
A bluesy mellow intro, wanders through and introspective and ambling path – a fine and soothing end to a masterful album. Fantastic.

About Interconnector
Sonic/Chugging/Frenzied guitars fuse tightly with the subtle harmony of the bass and furious insistent drumming to create fast frivolous good times dirty rock that hums along with a riffy one-two punch assault, supporting itself without the aid of gimmick or pretence and leaving your pelvic unable to resist repeated thrusting.
Fluid vocal transformations from an untamed belligerent werewolf roar into softer emphatic melancholic tones provide the vessel for compelling and earnest lyrics, while a combination of curious textures and bombastic breakdowns leave you powerless but to get your boggie on.

I don’t know if it’s all in my head or not, but Jaz Coleman’s influence lends a certain classic element and a brooding depth to this album that breaks away from what has become, in recent times, some would say too radio-friendly jams. There’s a satisfying depth to the album the louder it gets – when isn’t that true for Shihad though, I suppose?
