At the time of this interview, Melbourne based band East York had a series of North Island shows coming up in February with Coridian and Pull Down The Sun respectively...
However, due to Covid, these have been cancelled.... a message from the band below....
To our friends & whanau in NZ
We tried EVERYTHING to make the tour happen but unfortunately, we were the only ones playing fair.
Constant and last minute goal post shifting by the NZ Government means we cant be a part of the adventure this time…and we are shattered.
Having said that…
Pull Down the Sun & Coridian are two of the BEST hard rock/metal acts in Aotearoa right now and we emplore you to keep your tickets and go support original, passionate and just plain awesome music. The simple fact they are keen to continue on this tour speaks volumes to the class acts they are…and we assure you the show is worth the admission.
If you want a refund, we get it, hit us up.
But seriously…fuck that. Go enjoy!!!
We are still working on a whole bunch of shit behind the scenes and this speedbump is just that…a small obstable to be overcome.
Crank it, we love ya.
EAST YORK
Daz, Zane, Eric and Tarquin.
***ØRIGINS E.P out Friday Jan 28th***
From a normal start to a pandemic release, East York brings you their first ever single Outsiders.
It’s April 2020, the world is in lockdown and Zane has been sending drum ideas to Daz to write riffs over and now they have a batch of banging instrumentals, ready for collaboration. We see Eric move to Melbourne from Toronto Canada, reconnecting with Daz after 10 years apart. Finally the internet brings Tarquin into the mix, who demo’s three songs and fires them back. Everyone agrees "let’s do this thing" and East York is born.
When talking about the new track, Tarquin (Vocalist) says: "Outsiders is a tribute to the ones who walk on the outside of society. It speaks to those of us who play the game of life on our own terms and, who don't care to swim with the tide." It is always a journey of discovery when starting a new band but East York have found their grounding in Rock.
