No Love Lost - No Love Lost Newsletter Interview

29 Aug 2009 // An interview by Shade
What is the best gig you have ever performed at, and why?

Best gigs are always at small, intimate venues where you're up close and personal with the crowd. We get this everytime we play at venues like Hole In The Wall in Wellington and O’Malleys in Levin. The energy is righteous!

What is your favourite NZ venue?

Hole In The Wall (Wellington), great family feeling with the crowd and the boys who run the place. Always a comfortable and energetic place to play!

What NZ musicians or bands would you like to see more of, and why?

In Dread Response, They shred the hell out of everyone and are modest and good guys!

What is your most embarrassing on tour/gig moment?

When Paul's keyboard blew up in front of Christian hardcore kids that then preceded to tell me it was because God had forsaken me! And when our ex-guitarist slammed his penis in a window. He went to hospital and had stiches. He almost lost it.

How did you come up with the band name No Love Lost?

It was inspired by a song on the first album which expressed the grief over the death of a family member.

How do you describe your music?

LOUD! People say they think of Refused when they see/hear us.

What can we expect to see from No Love Lost over the next year?

Single release for our warm up to the album, a song called 'Whiskey and Dry', New album in April, NZ tour, Australian and European tour alot of drinking and alot of debauchery.

What advice would you like to give to other aspiring musicians?

Just be true to yourself, play what you wanna play and make sure you have tonnes of fun doing it!

About No Love Lost

From the ashes of the Wellington punk and hardcore scenes comes NO LOVE LOST.

A band willing to break musical and scene boundaries to bring you a symphonic metal party that will rock your pants off and broaden your ideas of modern rock music!

Blending huge synth landscapes with chunking thrash riffs, shredding leads, diabolical funk bass lines, pounding beats and catchy vocal lines NLL has come to the forefront of underground punk, rock and metal music.

Frau Knotz Newsletter Interview
28 Sep 2022 // by Shade
The original songs of singer, pianist, producer and composer Lauren Nottingham have touched down on Earth under the moniker Frau Knotz. With avant-pop tracks which simulate echoes of an extra-terrestrial yet power-packed video game soundtrack, Frau Knotz toggles between whimsical fantasies and dark truths, switches propulsive rhythms and expansive balladry and tunes glamor with gameplay to concoct elixirs of dance.

It's one thing to produce music from within two different genres, but it's a completely different thing to master each genre to perfection.
