JCK - 'Glass'

22 January 2018 - 0 Comments

The word on the street is that you're looking for hot new rock music.

If that's the case let me introduce you to JCK.

JCK is a multi genre artist from New Zealand. Although predominantly known as a Hip-Hop artist, JCK’s roots were forged in the fires of Heavy Metal and Classic Rock. JCK’s new album Glass reflects his roots and is a complete departure from his previous work. Since the beginning of 2017 JCK has released a new music video approximately every month for every song on this album. Most impressively he has made these music videos himself and has single handedly produced and played every instrument on the album.

The music videos are extraordinary. Through the magic of video editing JCK has cloned himself into a separate character for each instrument making a virtual band. The visual imagery is based on elements of Goth, Cyberpunk and Steampunk.

The album varies from Heavy Metal to Hard Rock and JCK covers some of his musical heroes with a kick ass version of White Zombie's Thunderkiss 65, David Bowie's Ashes to Ashes and a heavy version of Lana Del Rey's Summertime Sadness. The songs BabylonI Don’t Wish You Well and I Hate Everything are full throttle balls to the wall Heavy Metal. While Fairy In A Flower PotStone In My Shoe and Love Leave Me Alone are mournful Gothic inspired Rock ballads. And Drop The Mic is upbeat Punk Rock. JCK’s long history of producing Hip-Hop does sneak through in some elements of these songs but an effort has been made to avoid purposely mixing the genres. New Metal was great but he’s not looking to create New Nu Metal here.

There's a little something for everyone on this fantastic album, and with a music video for every song on the album, it makes for a lush artistic culmination of sound and visuals that will tantalise any Rock and Metal fan.
