Polyester share new track 'Different For A Boy'

08 November 2017 - 0 Comments

Almost a year since their last release Lucky Me, Auckland indie-pop group Polyester share their long-awaited new single Different For A Boy, and it’s a delight.

“I had the title for this song in my head for a long time,” says songwriter Amelia Berry.

“I knew how I wanted the song to feel but not really what I wanted it to be about or how it should sound. When I finally sat down to write it, it took me a long time to accept that I didn’t need to add any complicated re-harmonisations or key changes or anything fancy like that. That it’s just a simple song. Expressing a simple emotion. But then, it’s also become the song I’m most proud of writing so maybe there’s something in that.”

In recent months the five-piece has been working on an as yet untitled debut album, due for release in 2018. The band plays St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival on 29 January 2018. While we wait for these milestones, please enjoy this understated, dreamy pop song.

Different For A Boy is available on BandcampSoundCloudand Spotify.
