Tom Francis teams up with Royce Da 5’9 for new single

13 January 2017 - 0 Comments

Tom Francis is one of New Zealand hip-hop’s up-and-coming stars.

In a matter of a few short years, the Hawkes Bay rapper has risen through the highly competitive ranks of the local scene to establish himself on the international stage as one of Kiwi music’s most promising talents.

Now with the eyes and ears of the hip-hop world closely watching 21-year-old Francis, he’s about to reveal his next move - his finest work yet; his new single, What I’m Made For.

Featuring Detroit kingpin Royce Da 5’9 and LA-based Tyler Thomas, What I’m Made For takes the listener on an emotional journey, giving a personal insight into the rappers’ lives.

Produced by New Zealand’s finest Rory Noble and Dariush Flokk, it’s an instrumentally smooth track that touches on self reflection and worth - a powerful message that’s sure to resonate with fans who have been there from the start, as well as those only discovering Francis and his music for the first time.

Francis’ dream run began in 2015 when he booked a studio session in Los Angeles. He was working alongside Wiz Khalifa’s sound engineer Tom Khare, when one day Wiz himself came into the studio. They got talking, and from there doors opened up for the young rapper from New Zealand.

In early 2016, Francis released his debut album Underestimated, which won him a burgeoning fanbase, impressed critics and sat proudly in iTunes Top 10 for more than a week, even toppling the mighty Drake from the #1 spot.
