It seems almost unnecessary to repeat the phenomenal accomplishments that Sol3 Mio have achieved in such a short space of time, but it sets the scene for Act Two of this fairytale story.

Their sophomore album, On Another Note, will be released on the 9th of October, accompanied by the release of their first single; I See Fire, a rousing and emotional interpretation of the Ed Sheeran global hit, available today with the album pre-order. Sol3 Mio have seamlessly transformed the song into their own, creating a powerful anthem to New Zealanders across the globe. And coming soon is their second single, Stella, a core opera gem.

Tenor brothers, Pene and Amitai Pati, and their baritone cousin Moses Mackay delivered their debut album to the world late 2013, and records start falling.

In two short years, Sol3 Mio have become one of New Zealand’s most successful and popular musical actsever, with their debut album spending  sixteen weeks in the number one chart position and becoming one of the biggest selling albums in New Zealand music history - now at seven times platinum.

They toured New Zealand twice, with over 40,000 fans turning out each summer to theatres and arenas around the nation. The trio, united by a love of opera and strong family ties, transfixed audiences with an utterly unique mix of soaring voices and classic kiwi humour.

The album went on to be released in 26 countries, accompanied by sold out shows across the globe.

Amongst so many highlights, they have toured England twice, as guests on Alfie Boe’s Arena tour, and also headlined their own shows in more intimate venues. They performed at the Royal Festival of Remembrance, with the Queen and Royal family in attendance and when the All Blacks made history playing their first ever game in the United States, at the famed Soldier Field Stadium in Chicago, the boys were on hand to deliver a rousing version of the New Zealand anthem to the 60,000 strong crowd. They have sung for Chinese Premier Xi Jinping before a televised audience of over a billion, and sang at the opening ceremony of the NZ Cricket World Cup, in front of hundreds of millions more.

There have been more intimate moments too, including instruction on stagecraft from Sir Ian McKellen ahead of a O2 Arena show in London, and had the honour of attending a masterclass in Barcelona with the highly esteemed operatic soprano, Montserrat Caballé.

And so to their new album, On Another Note, which digs a little deeper into the opera canon whilst beautifully balancing the repertoire with contemporary classics, delivered in the trios’ inimitable way. Having travelled the globe non-stop, performing and growing as singers and people, the album is infused with those experiences, of moments of joy, warmth and love.

It’s an album which takes the template established on their debut and imbues it with a rare richness and the unparalleled qualities of Sol3 Mio’s award-winning voices.
