Little Bark has spent the last three years readying herself for her album USB (Unique Sonic Broadcast), a synth-based album, laid out like an 80’s film, soundtrack. The album will be played in full in the order of the album to the Auckland public this coming Saturday 12th July at Golden Dawn.

USB is Little Bark’s sophomore album and follows the 2010 release of her critically acclaimed self released debut Hope Is Rubbery. Co-produced by long-term collaborator Stef Animal (The Golden Awesome, Mestar), the ten tracks are a mixture of synth pop songs interspersed with lush instrumentals.

It’s no surprise film soundtracks have been a huge influence of Little Bark's (aka Sophie Burbery) latest release. “I have always loved film soundtracks. Batman (Prince), Low (David Bowie), The Good, The Bad, The Ugly (Morricone), Drive (Cliff Martinez) are some of my favourites. What appeals to me is that within a single soundtrack there is a wide array of feeling and sound, from structured songs through to emotive instrumentals. I’m also a big fan of the work of Delia Derbyshire and Vangelis. To me both of these musicians describe an approach to music that both fascinates and inspires me.”

USB also draws a strong influence from 80’s heroines like Madonna through to modern day experimental electro such as Fever Ray.

Two singles off the album have already had success at local radio including Modern Love which featured in the Kiwi FM and Radio Active charts, and Arpreggiator which has been on A rotation on RDU and Kiwi FM, as well as being handpicked to be part of NZ Music Month’s  Becks New New Zealand music project.

The show at Golden Dawn will go towards helping get USB made into a limited edition coloured vinyl. Fans will also be able to support the release by pre-ordering the album from Flying Out from July 14.

Little Bark performs with a 4-piece band, featuring 2 synthesists, a drummer (using a Simmons electronic kit), bassist and vocals.
