Music News - Record Month For theaudience.co.nz With July Wildcard Chart

Record Month For theaudience.co.nz With July Wildcard Chart

02 August 2013 - 0 Comments

Just over a year after its inception, theaudience.co.nz is going from strength to strength, with the July Wildcard Funding Chart proving to be the most successful in its short history.

The first week of July saw theaudience.co.nz record the most unique visits to the site for any seven day period to date.

The continued growth in interest in discovering new New Zealand music also resulted in a record number of votes cast, as well as tracks played and shared via social media. It was fantastic to see the diversity of the songs represented in the Top three battling for the Wildcard funding too.

Taking out the number one spot for the July Wildcard Funding Chart was Fortafy with his track Girls With Tattoos. Fortafy took out what was an incredibly tight race between himself and NZ heavy metal legends, 8 Foot Sativa, with both acts posting record scores for both number one and two placing’s.

"It was awesome to have my song on theaudience.co.nz alongside so many other NZ artists," said Fortafy. "It has really opened up my eyes to how diverse NZ music is and how something like theaudience.co.nz could really help up-and-coming local musicians like myself." Listen to Fortafy’s track here.

A big congratulations to Fortafy and a big thank you to everyone who has supported, visited, voted, played, or even just mentioned "theaudience.co.nz" throughout the past year. We’re really excited by the growth and look forward to another successful year.

In addition to the record month, we’re also stoked to see theaudience.co.nz artists Randa, Clap Clap Riot, and PleasePlease announced on the line-up for the 2014 Big Day Out. These artists that have come through or been supported by theaudience.co.nz, and we’re very proud to see how far these bands have come, and the potential they have to go even further.

As always, the end of one month results in the start of a new round of voting for the August Wildcard Funding Chart. To play your part in what will no doubt be another record breaking month (no guarantees), head along theaudience.co.nz to discover new music and have your say.

Thanks to www.theaudience.co.nz for this story.
