2011 Music Manager Awards Winners Announced!

Last night NZ Music Manager Awards held at Aucklands Backbeat Bar was an evening of celebration to reward the dedication and hard-work of NZ's best Music Managers.  Their tireless efforts, industry knowledge and exceptional management over the past year deserves recognition so without further ado, here they are. 

The NZ Music Managers Forum would like to congratulate the following 2011 Music Manager Award winners:

NZ Manager of the Year
Paul McKessar/Campbell Smith - CRS Management - Brooke Fraser, The Naked And Famous, Collapsing Cities, Lydia Cole, Dimmer
 
Upcoming Manager of the Year
Scott Grafton - Batucada Sound Machine, The Phil Edwards Band

Regional Manager of the Year - North Island
Teresa Patterson - Six60, I Am Giant, Iva Lamkum, Scribe

Regional Manager of the Year - South Island
Tim Couch - Knives At Noon

Self Managed Artist of the Year
Flip Grater - Flip Grater

International Achievement

Industry Champion
IMNZ - Independent Music New Zealand

The judging panel was made up of 20 judges from within the Music Industry, including organisations such as Apra, PPNZ, NZ on Air and The Music Commission. The evening was MC'd by Dave Gibson from Elemeno P and awards presented by Dave Dobbyn, Dei Hamo, Young Sid,Tami Neilson, Francis Kora, Richard Setford, and Teresa Patterson. The prizes were kindly given to the winners by the following music industry companies - Groove Guide, The Production Company, Rip It Up, Eventfinder, 95bFM, Bnets, York Street Recording Studios, Phantom Bill Stickers, Grabaseat, Sounds Aotearoa and Scizzorface.

The MMF New Zealand is part of International Music Managers' Forum (IMMF), a worldwide community of music managers, with active organisations in the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Sweden, Netherlands, Finland, Denmark,Norway, Poland, United States, Australia, South Africa, Belgium, Italy and Ireland.

The NZ MMF offers professional development in the form of regular national seminars and mentoring sessions, as well as Music Industry networking opportunities for managers and bands to share and learn from the experiences of others, and an avenue through which common problems and areas of concern can be discussed. The MMF ultimately seeks to improve the managers' capacity to support the careers of the artists they represent. There are 4 regional areas for the MMF - Auckland, Wellington, Canterbury and Otago.
