Music News - La De Da Festival Returns for 2011

13 April 2011 - 0 Comments

La De Da Festival is set to return to Martinborough this coming New Year’s Eve, bigger and better than before. Growing from the overwhelming success of its 2010 debut, the 2011/12 festival will boast more space, more acts and more stages.

To accommodate a larger scale production and higher quality New Year’s Eve experience for their audience, La De Da will be moving to an alternate Martinborough location, where capacity can also be increased pending council approval.

“We are stoked to have secured a new site for La De Da 2011/12 and onwards,” says Festival Co-Director Josh Mossman. “After months of scouring the region for a new venue for La De Da, the spot we’ve chosen was the top of our list, and we are excited about the potential it offers us to deliver a higher quality of festival to the ticket holders.”

When considering options on how the festival could expand sustainably, Mossman continues, “We set out to secure a site that was far enough out of town to reduce the impact on the Martinborough Village and residents, but close enough that the community could still enjoy the economic and social benefits of the festival. Our other priority was to find a site that could house the entire festival, parking, camping and a village. . . and as a result provide an 'all in one' New Year's Eve solution to our punters in a single location."

The festival, which will run on the 30-31st December 2011, will be expanded to accommodate two main stages instead of one, and bring the addition of some international acts, as well as a wealth of New Zealand talent to the region this year. Accommodation will still be available for festival goers at La De Da’s onsite campground ‘Lullaby Lane’.

More information about the line-up and location will be available from June.
