Registration for the 2009 National Battle of the Bands championship is now open. The championship is set to become NZ's largest R18 Band competition with events taking place nationwide; allowing bands throughout the country to participate.
Elimination rounds will be held at multiple live music venues in the main centres of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch as well as additional regional heats across the country. Judging and audience voting determines each region’s champion; who then represent their region at the National Final in Auckland.
Interested bands can register at the Battle's web site www.battleofthebands.co.nz and entry only costs $60. Entry is limited to the first 120 bands to register, so early registration is recommended. The winning band will receive a host of goodies including professional recording time, live appearances, musical equipment and more.
The competition is open to all musical genres, the only restriction being that all band members must be over 18 years of age. So this is a great opportunity for newly formed or upcoming bands to test their readiness in a live play off and for the more seasoned players to demonstrate why they should be the nation's best band.
The events are scheduled to be played at some of NZ's best live music venues, each professionally managed and equipped to ensure a quality result for both players and fans. Fans too can register their interest on the Battle's web site and receive early notification of upcoming events, discounted tickets and follow the competition's progress on-line.
