Gig & Concert News - Christchurch band Phantom Empire announce NZ Music Month Schools Tour

Christchurch band Phantom Empire announce NZ Music Month Schools Tour

05 May 2013 - 0 Comments

RKCNDY Entertainment in partnership with NZ Music Commission, CHART and The Edge presents 'NZMM Christchurch Schools Tour'. The tour will visit 9 schools throughout the month, delivering professional high energy live shows, where students can set aside life pressures and some time to 'rock out'. The concerts will be followed up with in-class mentoring with the members of Phantom Empire.

Upheavals to normal schooling and stressed home environments (due to the 2011 earthquakes), have placed a heavy demand on energy levels and the emotional state of Christchurch students. A recent spike in youth mental health issues highlight an area of concern for the community.

“We love what this tour represents, a chance to reach out and encourage some of the cities youth.” - Rachel of RKCNDY Entertainment & Creative.

PHANTOM EMPIRE are setting the entire month aside to focus on the tour. In addition to the lunch time performances the band are volunteering their time to participate in classes, sharing their personal life experiences, how they have overcome adversities and the role music played in seeing them through tough times.

“National school tours were a regular occurrence 10 years ago, however it's been7 years since the last tour. We're aiming to bring these tours back, as they play a crucial role in developing New Zealand music and arts. Most opportunities for exposure to live music are based in alcohol related environments, which are unsuitable for youth. The Schools Tour makes quality live music available, in a safe and positive environment. We also believe students will benefit from the inspiration and mentoring goals of the Tour. Currently, we can't see anyone more deserving of a 'boost' than 'Cantab' students”.
- Tim Hewitt of PHANTOM EMPIRE

In addition to the 'stack' of giveaways and prizes donated by generous local businesses, PHANTOM EMPIRE will also be offering their album 'If The World Burns' as a free download for NZ Music Month.
