Splore-city migrates to grand Town Hall on 11 & 12 February

Splore-city is changing location and hours: this summer’s most lavish celebration of the combined arts is migrating from Aotea Square to Auckland Town Hall next door, with a programme scheduled to start at 7.30pm on both days.

A principal reason for the shift has been ongoing feedback from the audience that an 11pm curfew is too restrictive for a Splore event. So with partying into the wee hours in mind, Splore-city will now be accommodating a fruity, freaky, fun-loving audience well into the night.

Those who wish to submerge themselves in a night or two of untamed indulgence will be treated to a transformed Town Hall. A hundred years old this year, Auckland’s grand dame of entertainment is to be spectacularly Splorified for the occasion, creating a new space where performance, music and art collide in a breathtaking kaleidoscope of sight and sound.

Festival Director Amanda Wright says “the move into the Town Hall will give new life to the programme with performances now having a more dramatic presence in the intimate surrounds of the Town Hall.”

Garnish yourself in your fruitiest, most outrageous outfit, and dress for the night of your dreams – this year is all about colour.

Splore events appeal to those who know how to create and participate in wild escapades, and truly know – or want to know – the meaning of an outrageous party.

Leave everyday life behind for the weekend. Play up, get down, and let loose in a two-day party dedicated to artful provocation, and non-conformist frivolity.
