OpShop - CANCELLED - Christchurch, 04 October 2012

Opshop has cancelled the rest of their nationwide tour because of a band member's injury.

The Kiwi band had only just kicked off their "Hits and Giggles" tour, teaming up with comedian Brendhan Lovegrove, but today announced the remainder of the tour had been canned.

Their concert in Christchurch on October 4 has been canned, as well as performances in Methven, Wellington, New Plymouth, Leigh, Waihi Beach and Whitianga.

A spokeswoman said the band was "truly gutted" to announce the cancellation.

"Due to a band member injury - they aren't getting any younger, these things happen - they have been forced to cancel the remaining dates on their Hits and Giggles tour," she said.

"Opshop apologises to all its fans and hopes to get the tour back on the road when they are fighting fit again."

The Press understands the band member has a "re-occurring injury" which has flared up during the tour.

Opshop began the tour, which they billed as "one of the most memorable and talked about" of 2012, in Auckland on September 21 and also played in Nelson, Hamilton and Greymouth.

It had been over two years since the band last headlined their own tour.

Ticket refunds are available through Eventfinder if bought online, or from the venue if purchased there.
