The Vehicle in association with Sole Creative presents The Shake-Up, a diverse night of booty shaking mayhem. Bringing together a plethora of Musicians, Dj’s, and Emcee’s to boil-up and serve a mixed bag of treats from Pacific rhythm blues, reggae, funk, n’ soul through to floor banging hip-hop, drum n’ bass, and dubstep.

Heading the kitchen for the evening, Antsman (Rhombus / Audio Mechanics) is a DJ/Emcee who specialises in seeking out the classic soul, funk, hip hip and reggae vibes, with an emphasis on heavy bass, solid breaks and righteous vocals. An O.G. of the New Zealand music scene, Antsman emerged out of CHCH in the late 80’s with DJ Global Influence, Legal Street Productions and Pacific Underground. In the early 90’s he spent a few years in London, witnessing the Jungle scene evolve. On his arrival back to NZ, he co-founded the Beats ‘N Pieces hip hop crew and their infamous radio show on RDU. He soon teamed up with The Nomad, guesting on a few albums and gigging throughout the country. Moving to Wellington in 2002 he hooked up with Rhombus and has journeyed with them throughout Aotearoa and internationally. He currently co-hosts the Audio Mechanics Radio Show on Radio Active in Wellington, and hosts the regular 2Sounds Clash events alongside the rest of the Audio Mechanics and Nice-Up Crew.

Dishing out the Entree’s for the evening will be Billy TK (snr) a Kiwi cultural icon and guitar legend; an intense and exciting artist who has entertained crowds in New Zealand and around the world for the past thirty years. Best known for his blistering guitar solos in bands like ‘The Human Instinct’ and Powerhouse, similar in style of Jimi Hendrix and Carlos Santana and Eric Clapton. He is however a man of many parts. A prolific songwriter, he plays stunning acoustic guitar, electric waiata, pulsing pacific rhythms, and tours regularly with his band playing original compositions, psychedelic rock, blues and fusion. Billy will be starting things off at 9pm and will be joined by his band The One World Peace Band.

On hand in the kitchen and ready to slice, dice and keep things rolling will be Sole, Myoume, Grynd & Duff MC.

So pull out ya dancin shoe’s and get ready to come shake off the cobwebs for a night of fine dancin and booty shakin.
