About Alpine Fault

Alpine Fault are an Auckland based hard rock/metal band. An interesting combination of musical influences, backgrounds and musical tastes come together to express their unique sound and style. As East meets West, melodic arpeggios meet powerful riffs and eerie, atmospheric violins to create the harmonic symphonium of sound that they are so fond of.

In February 2005, the original line-up of Alpine Fault (with Robert Bryson on drums) began exploring different styles of music, the result being 'Severance': their first song. As exploration continued, their musical direction became more apparent. Recording sessions began in March and thanks to friends they made along the way, they began to share our music to metal fans throughout the Auckland area.

Recording continued and the 'Severance' EP was released in November. Towards the end of 2005, Rob had decided that his passion lay elsewhere and went on to join Naqaudah. Alpine Fault recruited Tim Royle (Ant's brother) formerly of Leper Asylum to fill the vital role and help take the band to another level.
