COLLEGE BASSIST AND DRUMMER LOOKING TO START ALT. ROCK BAND
Posted: Thu Aug 27, 2015 4:06 pm
Hi guys my name is Rob and I’m a bassist/songwriter in Whitby, Porirua and me and a drummer friend are looking for members (preferably college students or anyone else around college age) to join a band I am forming. We haven’t had many previous experiences of being in a band but because music is something we love we’re hoping to take this band as far as it can get. While we eventually want to work towards playing original songs (I have written a few songs already), at the start I’m expecting us to have to play covers as practise. We are both around intermediate level in regards to our instrumental abilities and we are looking for others at around the same level.

We am looking at playing alternative rock but are open to playing music across a variety of genres depending on what a certain band member wants to play. At the moment some bands that are influencing my bass playing and songwriting include the Strokes, Radiohead, Joy Division, My Bloody Valentine, Interpol, Modest Mouse, the Shins, the Smiths, Arcade Fire, Pink Floyd, Manic Street Preachers, R.E.M., U2, Muse, Weezer, Bloc Party, the Arctic Monkeys, the Libertines and Vampire Weekend.

We are looking for a lead guitarist, rhythm guitarist, vocalist and possibly a keyboard player, all of whom don’t have to be advanced players but love playing and creating music and are willing to experiment and listen to music they wouldn’t normally listen to! Equipment doesn’t have to be gig-ready at the moment but it should be good enough for practising with others as we are hoping to have group practises at least once a week(preferably twice if everyone has time available). A practise space will be organised once we’ve got more members together.

If you are interested in either joining or knowing more please e-mail me at [email protected]

Thanks, Rob Happy
