Bio

Big Belly Woman describe the sound of their music as “healing vibrations melded together by traditonal and modern instruments “but please be assured that this is no “touchy feely” new age music.

Big Belly Woman was formed in Ruatoki in March 1996 by a group of women who have both a love of music and a commitment to change.

'Dance With The Wind' takes the listener through a uniquely Maori musical journey that covers a wide spectrum of sounds, vocal harmonies and rhythms and subject matter.

Currently residing in Rawene, Hokianga, Big Belly Woman have performed locally at Te Matariki Celebrations, Bay of Islands Jazz and Blues Festival, Grey Lynn Park Festival, Tautoko FM Anniversaries, Sweet water's '99, The National Maori Midwives Conference (Whangarei), The Third Composers Musicwomen Aotearoa Festival at Te Papa, The Magdalena International Women's Performance Festival at Paekakariki, and at various local fundraisers and good causes.
