Bio

The Valley Five are a new band formed from the ashes of two of the most prominent Lower Hutt bands of recent years, Discenter and Barzell. The two bands were dissolved around the same time, shortly after the two had completed work on a split CD, entitled 'The Valley 8', which gives an indication of where The Valley Five's name came from.

The Valley Five formed during 2001 and their first show was at Valve in Wellington with Product and Residue on April 20th. Their sound is unashamedly heavy and self-described as "monolithic rock". The band have released a demo EP, which they recorded in December 2001, and have returned to New Zealand after a brief sojourn to the United Kingdom.

The band has also changed its line-up in recent times, with guitarist Paul Herschell leaving, to be replaced by Ryan O'leary (formerly of Backyard Burial, School Of Meat and Diecast).

The Valley Five have now disbanded.
