Magnetic Funk are a 5-piece live funk and soul outfit from Christchurch. Forming late 2003, through a variety of local and national gigs the band have gone on to build a reputation as one of Aotearoa's Premier live funk acts.
Influenced by mid 70's funk group, with the added touch of late 70's soul through the groups lead vocalist, Christine Eva, Magnetic Funk have a unique sound combining raw funk and soul with hints of reggae thrown in amonsgt the funk.
The band are currently in the studio recording a debut, featuring a variety of guest musicians including Kurt Dyer from Solaa on Percussion, Aaron Chandler on Trombone and Nava Thomas (Confucius) on Clavinet.
Always dirty, and heavy on the one, Magnetic Funk have fast become a live act not to be missed.
