Katie Thompson hails from the West Coast of the South Island, New Zealand.
The talented 21 year old singer/songwriter has a number of achievements.
Katie began her musical career by playing the drums in a high school band which led her to winning the Women's Musicianship Award in the West Coast region at the Rockquest. Katie then progressed to guitar and songwriting, performing at many talent quests, local events and country music competitions around New Zealand. In 2007 Katie and her family traveled to Tamworth Australia where she competed in the Bundaberg Rum Jazzer Quest and won Senior overall. Katie is currently in the process of recording her first album. A song that will feature is "Does Heaven Have a Bar" written for a great mate and musician who just happens to have a taste for Monteiths beer.
