Ad_he_sive set for take-off

Emerging Christchurch rock band AD-HE-SIVE are winging their way to Singapore today to play in the Sonic Fest music festival.

The band has not released so much as a single in New Zealand, but an application to the Singapore festival organisers has found them on their way to the Asian commercial hub.

Band frontman Chris Murray said the band's demo tape was sent to Singapore radio, and went straight to number one on an underground station. He hopes playing in the festival will raise the band's profile both here and overseas and lead to more recording opportunities.

"We're completely stoked to be going," he said yesterday.

Murray described AD-HE-SIVE as a "fairly original Kiwi rock band", and said they drew inspiration from various bands, from the Foo Fighters to Crowded House.

The band, made up of vocalist Murray, guitarist Kyle Scheib, Aidan Blanchard on bass, and drummer Mark Palalagi, plans a South Island tour supporting Kiwi band Felt when they return from Singapore.
