Hello!

I was walking around the Valley here in Brisbane when I spotted a
poster for the band "Fast Crew". I'd never heard of the band before,
The poster really stood out because of its sheer lack of character.
Someone has perfected the ultimate bland band poster, and they're
trialling it with "Fast Crew" as guinea pigs.

You can see a picture of it here: http://crappy-ads.blogspot.com/

The only relief is the "Fast Crew" logo, which is notable because it's
the sort of thing you'd expect to see in a 1950's-themed American diner.
It catches the eye not only because it's incongruous, but also because
it is so very badly executed.

I did a bit of Googling, and hit this site (http://www.muzic.net.nz/artists/885).
As I say in my blog, the press kit seems to have been assembled by
the same robots as the poster.

The people handling the PR for this group are doing a first-rate job
of making them look like featureless, mass-produced automatons.
Is this intentional?

I'll probably have no other contact with the band other than through
the poster and the web site, and it would be a pity if I've somehow
got the wrong idea. So, is there a secret that's been left unrevealed,
or is the whole "Fast Crew" thing a marketing experiment to see how
slick-yet-shoddy a product can get before people turn up their noses?

Thanks for any help,

richard

Just to clear something up - the information we display on Fast Crew is based on information we have gathered off the web. It's purpose is to provide more information to those people who already have an interest in Fast Crew.

The original source of the information is was a press-kit from their management, however the comments on your blog seem to imply that we're involved in some way - we're not!

If you're wanting to find the official Fast Crew website, it's here: http://www.fastcrew.co.nz/

PS: I would have posted this same comment on your blog website, but the lame-ass "Word Verification" thing appears to be broken.

Hi!

I'll update my blog to reflect the fact that you're just reporting what was
given to you. I've also mailed the management with the same questions
I asked above. I'm genuinely interested in finding out if the whole thing
is a sophisticated gag.

As for the word verification thing, it looks like it's a well known issue.
Just with that one word (smenita), too. Weird.

http://groups.google.com/group/blogger-help-troubleshoot/browse_frm/thread/596573572ad4725/a4071252878a59ed?q=word+verification&rnum=3#a4071252878a59ed

I tried to post a comment myself and, guess what, smenita came up. I
retried a couple of times and it came good, so if you're trying to post a
comment to a Blogger entry and good old smenita comes around,
don't give up.

It looks like this has only just started happening. Hopefully it'll
stop happening soon.

Take care,

richard
