 Second Theory and Down2One at Papa Jacks
I happened to be at Papa Jacks last Thursday for the Second Theory and Down2One show. Holy Crap! It’s been ages since I’ve seen such an intense live show!
Down2One were first up playing “balls out” deftones style riffs that loosen your bowels. You know the kind. If they keep at it they will definitely be a band to watch in the future.
Then came the main act in the form of Second Theory. From the opening riff they pounded us with huge guitars and vocals, backed up by a solid rhythm section, which were nicely contrasted by the odd mellow “breakdown” part. Their style is a unique mixture that cannot be compared to any single band I can think of, rather a mixture of S.O.A.D, Deftones, Chimaira, Snot and Glassjaw, if that makes any sense at all.
Second Theory put on one of the most intense show I have seen in ages. It’s not often you see a band that can throw themselves around on stage (or in this case floor) without guffing every second note they play. They are definitely right up there on my “must see again” list.
If you like hardcore/metal you should definitely check them out. They will not disappoint you.
