New Album by Ian Rushton
Posted: Mon Aug 21, 2006 3:04 pm
Another stunning instrumental offering from Ian Rushton; his 5th album since his debut release in December 2002. Rushton returns back to his melodic piano-based origins, this time featuring some fresh, vibrant new remixes and arrangements of older works and of course some exciting new material as well.

Guest artists:
Vaughn Fowler - acoustic guitar ("Melancholy")
Nick Crosby - electric lead guitar ("Inward Bound")
Ralph Zuener - drums ("Godzone")

Ian Rushton releases new album
Posted: Sat Oct 8, 2005 12:13 pm
Ian Rushton, has released a new album, 'Black Sands'.

This is a self-funded projected; Rushton describes it as "a personal tribute to my early rock influences, artists and bands dating back to the 60's and 70's such as Mike Oldfield, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Supertramp, Elton John etc etc. Like my previous album ('The Cybase Project', December '04) it features an international cast of musicians whose contributions were facilitated over the internet. But unlike the last album, this one is a 100% instrumental offering."

The albumis an instrumental exploration in the style of Mike Oldfield's 'Tubular Bells', with a "Floyd-esque" feel but with an obvious New Zealand flavour, accompanied by musicians from as far afield as USA, Canada, and Holland.

Tsunami Awakening
Posted: Wed Jan 12, 2005 9:14 pm
This from Ian Rushton:

"Hello people!

I'm currently hosting and producing an international, internet-based collaborative project "Tsunami Awakening" - a song written for the sole purpose of raising relief-aid funds for the tsunami victims in South East Asia. The song was based on a poem by Ted Barrett (USA), music composed by myself, and features an international cast of very talented, independent musicians including some fellow Kiwis. This is a dramatic and very emotional track which can be previewed here for a limited time:

The final release will feature a good number of singers from around the world. The final mix will take place in Norway, and will be mastered at RBA Records in Canada.
Please show your support for this project by listening to the song and, as you do, please make a donation in whatever way may feel appropriate for you.

The final release will be available primarily on pay-to-download, with all proceeds being passed on to an appropriate charity.

kind rgards,
Ian Rushton"
