After wowing an audience of more than 60 people at their debut performance at the Temple on 28 June 2002, Auckland based Esra Dekan have been working hard to bring their music to the public.
Playing their own style of high energy, crowd pleasing gigs has taken them as far a field Furneaux Lodge in the Marlborough Sounds, and to more local venues such as The Rose and Crown, North Shore Events Centre, ASB Stadium, and the Empire Tavern.
They are a widely renowned and professional covers band, playing a variety of music, covering different artists from every era since the 1960's.
Still harbouring the dream of bringing their own music out, they have seen covers and corporate gigs as not only a passion, but also a viable business opportunity.
As an example of their determination, in 2003 they set a goal to fund, record and film their music video, 'All Right' at York Street Studios with award winning engineer Clint Murphy. The corresponding video, directed by Ivan Slavov (other works include The WBC and Katchafire). Then by October 2003, they had released the video, and it received favourable support and airplay on RTR, Juice TV, and C4 in late 2003.
Esra Dekan have played shows with Augustino, Op Shop, Savant and Rubicon.
Entirely self-funded to date, Esra Dekan’s immediate plans are to "break the ice" with programmers throughout NZ and test the waters with their 13 song demo album 'Studio Sessions'.
